Kanter 68.97m in Helsingborg

Helsingborg, SwedenThe third edition of the World Record Challenge took place at Heden in Helsingborg on Saturday (5) and gathered some of the world's best discus throwers.

The weather was quite cold condition with short periods of rain. Most of the throwers came from the group coached by Vesteinn Hafsteinsson, also the organizer of the competition.

Estonia’s Olympic champion Gerd Kanter took the lead with 67.69 in the third round passing Omar Ahmed El Ghazaly from Egypt who had led with 64.61 (ultimately second place). Kanter continued with a fine series winning with a fourth round 68.97, a 68.74 with his next and then a foul.

In the women’s competition Anna Söderberg, now with 17 times consecutive Swedish titles, won with 56.53.
