Estonian Olympic champion Gerd Kanter didn't manage to repeat the successful indoor discus throwing of last year, when the 2010 Wexiö Indoor Throwing competition took place on Saturday (27).

Last year Kanter set an unoffical world indoor best with a 69.51m throw, but this time his implement reached a best of 66.95m.

”I was hoping to do about 68m now. I think I´m in good shape and the conditions here in Växjö are perfect but this was my first competion this year so I suppose I´ll have to wait for longer throws” commented Kanter.

Three men threw over 60m, Yasser Fathy spun the discus almost two metres further than he had done before and was very happy in second place (63.37m).

Among the other events, Dane Kim Christensen’s 19.68m heave won the men’s Shot Put.
