Bianca Kappler achieved a fine 6.81m leap to take the Long Jump at the Wesel Meeting, Germany, on Monday (1). It was a great comeback for the 31-year-old, who had ruptured her Achilles tendon during the warm-ups for the German Championships last summer in Nuremburg.

There was another surprise in this competition since Beatrice Marscheck improved to 6.73m for second place. Claudia Tonn took third with 6.71m. Peter Rapp won the men’s Long Jump with 8.04m while Nils Winter was second (8.01).

On the same day in Rehlingen, German steeplechaser Antje Möldner improved her national record to 9:27.22. She won the race with Ethiopians Itaa Korahubish Bedada (9:35.55) and Beriso Halima Hassan (9:35.89) taking the next two places. Jirina Ptacnikova (Czech Republic) won the Pole Vault with 4.55m while Germany’s Kristina Gadschiew was second with 4.40m.

A day earlier in Fränkisch-Crumbach (Bavaria) there was fine Hammer Throwing. Sergej Litvinov (Germany) took the men’s event with 76.38m from Markus Esser (76.26m). World Champion Betty Heidler threw 74.70m to take the women’s event. Kathrin Klaas was second with 71.41m.
