Organisers of the Indoor Meeting Karlsruhe have announced that world record-holder Kendra Harrison will return to the IAAF World Indoor Tour meeting on 4 February.

The US sprint hurdler sped to victory in the 60m hurdles in the German city last year in 7.86, having clocked a PB of 7.82 in the heats. Only two women – world indoor record-holder Susanna Kallur and two-time world indoor champion Lolo Jones – have ever run faster in Karlsruhe.

Outdoors, she went on to have a near-perfect season, winning all but one of her races and breaking the 100m hurdles world record at the IAAF Diamond League meeting in London en route to winning the Diamond Race. Her one loss of the summer came at the US Olympic Trials, where she finished sixth and so missed out on a place on the Olympic team.

In Karlsruhe next month she will face Kallur, 2012 Olympic champion Sally Pearson and world silver medallist Cindy Roleder in what looks set to be one of the highlights of the meeting.

“I am very pleased to return to Karlsruhe,” said Harrison. “I enjoyed my stay in the city last year and the audience in the Karlsruhe athletics arena was absolutely fantastic. It will be my only international competition indoors this year. I’m really looking forward to running on the track in Karlsruhe, which is famous for its speed.”
