Kenyan athlete Simon Wangai and Alevtina Ivanova of Russia took the honours in Saturday's USA 25km road race championships at the Grand Rapids venue in Michigan (8 May).
Wangai was a runaway winner in the men's event with a time of 1:15:15 beating American Dan Browne into second.
Browne clocked 1:16:21 to retain his National title, well clear of third placed Ryan Shay who finished in 1:17:12.
Ivanova (1:26:38) produced a late finishing burst to beat off the challenge of fellow Russian's Firaya Sultanova-Zhdanova (1:27:00) and Victoria Klimina (1:27:39) in the women's race.
Debbi Kilpatrick clinched the US title, finishing fourth with a time of 1:31:14.
Veteran runner Sonja Friend-Uhl was 12 seconds further back with Jeanne Hennessy taking the bronze medal in 33:12.
