Kenyan and Russia share honours in Riga

Titus Kipkorir Kurgat of Kenya in 2:16:53 and Russia Iraida Aleksandrova of Russia in 2:37:37 were respectively the men’s and women’s winners at the 2012 Nordea Riga Marathon on Sunday (20).

The Nordea Riga Marathon is an IAAF Bronze Label Road Race.

The elite field was comprised of runners from countries including Belarus, Russia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Hungary, Japan, Uganda and Morocco.

The Nordea Riga Marathon achieved many new records during the latest edition of the race on 20 May 2012. The total number of runners across the four race distances reached 18,178, while the marathon distance attracted 1092 runners from 59 countries, a new record for the Latvian capital.

Race day weather conditions were unexpectedly hot and therefore marathon course records remained unchallenged.
