31 March 2001 ( MilanFor the second straight year, Kenya's Patrick Ivuti captured the Stramilano half marathon, cruising to an easy win ahead of second-place Ukrainian Sergey Lebed.

Ivuti finished the 21.09 km course in one hour, 49 seconds. Lebed, who was the runner-up last week in the long course at the World Cross Country Championships in Belgium, came in second in the Milan race. Italy's Giuliano Battocletti finished third.

After nipping World Cross Country Champion Mohammed Mourhit at last year's Stramilano, Ivuti's encore performance Saturday continues Kenya's dominance of the race. Moses Tanui won the Milan event from 1990 to 1993, followed by six straight victories by fellow Kenyan Paul Tergat.
