Keskisalo wins 2006 Finnish Sportsperson award

Jukka Keskisalo, the European 3000m Steeplechase champion has been voted as overall Sportsperson of the Year 2006 in Finland.

Keskisalo, who had already won the Athlete of the Year vote in November, this week came top of the selection (all sports) made by the Finnish Sports Journalists Association, gaining more than a half of the number one place votes from about 450 journalists who were polled.
 
Keskisalo got a total of 3992 points, while Tanja Poutiainen (Olympic silver medallist women’s giant slalom) received 2236pts. In third place was javelin thrower Tero Pitkämäki with 1401 points.
