Oslo, NorwayEliud Kipchoge is planning to produce a winning IAAF Diamond League campaign before stepping up next year and challenging for the World Championships 10,000m gold medal in Daegu.

Kipchoge after a predominantly 5000m career combined with an enviable cross country record at the highest level, believes the right time has come to move up in distance.

No one doubts the 25-year-old will make a highly successful transition given he scorched to a time of 26:49:02 at one of the Meccas of track distance racing - the FBK meeting in Hengelo - in May 2007.

That debut display in which he narrowly finished behind double Olympic silver medallist Sileshi Sihine clearly indicates Kipchoge will be a serious force not only to the victor on that occasion but his more famous fellow Ethiopian, Kenenisa Bekele in future years.

"It is a challenge I am confidently looking forward towards and I feel it comes at the right stage of my career to move up," said Kipchoge before Friday's IAAF Diamond League meeting in Oslo.
