15 February 2000 – Stockholm - Denmark's world 800m outdoor champion Wilson Kipketer - who broke the 1000m indoor world record in Stuttgart last week - will attempt to better his time of 2min 15.25sec at the Stockholm Indoor meet here on Thursday.

Just two months after undergoing a hernia operation, the 29-year-old Kenyan-born athlete, who holds both the indoor and outdoor 800m world records, broke Algerian Nourredine Morceli's eight year-old mark of 2:15.26 set in Birmingham, England, in February 1992.

Kipketer told race organisers here that despite the record his Stuttgart performance was not his best because he had been suffering from jet lag after a long stay in the United States.

"I feel in form once again," said Kipketer, adding that he felt he could better his record.

Also taking part in the indoor meet in the Swedish capital will be Kenyan Kenneth Kimwetich, and three-time world 800m indoor champion Maria Mutola of Mozambique, who last year set a world record in the 1000m (2:30.94) in Sweden.

Russian high-jumper Viacheslav Voronin, American Greg Saddler (60m), Mexican Alejandro Cardenas (400m), Kenyan Moses Kiptanui (3000m), Britons Tony Jarrett (60m hurdles) and Joice Maduoka (60m), are also expected to feature.
