Klüft to Long Jump in Uden meet

Multiple global Heptathlon champion Carolina Klüft will participate in the Long Jump at the 16th edition of the MONDO Keien Meeting, a national permit meeting in Uden, the Netherlands. The Meeting will take place on Saturday 27 June.

Together with friend and fellow heptathlete friend Karin Ruckstuhl, winner of the silver medal behind Klüft at the 2006 European Championships,Klüft will try to break Jade Johnson’s track record of 6.39m.

European Indoor 60m champion Dwain Chambers (GBR) will over 100m try to improve his European season lead (10.06) and is up against track record holder Ricardo Williams of Jamaica who won the race in 2007 and 2008.

Gregory Sedoc, the silver medal winner at the 2009 European Indoor Championships over the 60m Hurdles will race Marcel van der Westen over the 110m Hurdles. Sedoc is in great shape having won several European races this year.

The women’s 1500m looks promising with NCAA champion Susan Kuijken, European indoor finalist Marije ter Raa and Britain’s Nikki Hamblin who won the Osaka Grand prix this year. The dark horse in the race is Celia Brown (GBR) who won the women’s 800m in Uden 2007.

The Discus Throw will see a duel between Dutchman Erik Cadee, who has improved to 65.61m this year and Markus Münch (GER) who has a personal best of 64.90m and has beaten Cadee twice this year.

Other athletes to look out for are former Uden winner Ockert Cilliers (RSA) in the 400m hurdles, Robbert Jan Janssen (NED) in the Pole Vault who will be trying to break Jeff Hartwigs track record of 5.55m and Tom Parsons (GBR) who owns the record in the High Jump with 2.27m.
