Siegfried König, the long serving, energetic director of the annual IAAF Permit meeting in Karlsruhe, Germany, has informed the IAAF that he has decided to hand over running of the meeting which is one of the best indoor fixtures on the global calendar to another well-known administrator Alain Blondel.

“I think it is the right date to give the position of Meeting Director to a younger person,” confirmed König to IAAF General Secretary Pierre Weiss. “In Karlsruhe we have had for the last 10 years Alain Blondel as athletic-coordinator and I can declare that Alain has done his job more than well. Therefore I think it will be very good for Karlsruhe that Alain has accepted the job as a Meeting Director.”

Siegfried König will remain as a president of LG (Athletic.Club) Karlsruhe.

It is unlikely that any meeting director could have wished for a better exit than König received this year, as of course Sweden’s Susanna Kallur  sped to a new World Indoor record for the 60m Hurdles (7.68 secs)** at this year’s edition on 10 February 2008.
