28 October 2000Monaco - Double Sydney Olympic Games gold medallist Robert Korzeniowski may continue race walking for another four years and seek to make history in the sport.

The Polish athlete, who won both the 50km and 20km events in Australia last month, said Saturday that he was considering prolonging his career to compete at the Athens Games in 2004.

"Just one month after winning two gold medals, it is hard to say how I will feel in four years' time, but if I feel good mentally and physically, then I will continue," Korzeniowski said.

"I am only 32 now and feel I could still compete in a fourth Olympic Games at the age of 36."

Korzeniowski has three Olympic gold medals in his collection, having won the 50km event four years ago in Atlanta. He was disqualified from the 20km event in Barcelona when in second place.

In Sydney, he became the first man to win both walking events at the same Games. No athlete has ever won a walk event at three successive Olympics.

Korzeniowski, who is based at Tourcoing in northern France, trains by walking daily in both France and nearby Belgium.

He said he planned to resume light training in December before returning to his full training regime in January.
