Kwambai and Taragon the winners in Prague

Prague, Czech RepublicIt was a beautiful night for the very first Mattoni Night Grand Prix which offered elite men’s and women’s road races on Saturday (8).
  
Ms. Dana Zatopkova, 1952 Olympic Javelin champion and wife of the late Emil Zatopek the legendary Czech long-distance runner, started the Women’s race off, while Roman Sebrle, World and Olympic Decathlon champion, started the men’s race.
  
The adidas women‘s 5km was won by Irene K. Kwambai of Kenya finished first in 15:46 ahead of Bizunesh Bekele of Ethiopia by just three seconds. A distant third, Susan Kirui (KEN) with 16:41 took the last place on the podium. Petra Kaminkova, was the first Czech woman to cross the finish line, coming in 5th (16:53).
   
Winning the Metro men‘s 10km race was Wilfred Taragon of Kenya who took the title in 28:26 by a mere second from compatriot Justus K. Kiprono. Another Kenyan, Patrick Kimeli was third (28:31), while Pavel Novak was the first Czech home in 31:06.
