The world’s two fastest women of last year will line up over 200m at Athletissima when Olympic champion Allyson Felix takes on European champion Dafne Schippers at the IAAF Diamond League meeting on 9 July.

Felix currently tops the world lists after her 21.98 run at the IAAF Diamond League meeting in Doha last month. It is the fastest time in the world since her Olympic triumph three years ago.

Schippers, meanwhile, recently set a Dutch 100m record of 10.94 and will now be keen to better her own 22.03 national 200m record set last year in Zurich.

Both athletes will be contesting the 200m for the first time in Lausanne following two previous appearances in the Swiss city. Felix ran the 100m in 2005 and 2007, while Schippers competed in the 4x100m and the 100m ‘B’ races in 2013 and 2014.

Just like the women’s 200m, the men’s shot put in Lausanne will also bring together the best athletes from USA and Europe.

Germany’s two-time world champion David Storl and Poland’s double Olympic champion Tomasz Majewski will face US champion and world leader Joe Kovacs and two-time world indoor champion Ryan Whiting.

Olympic 400m champion Sanya Richards-Ross returns to the city that played host to her first victory on European soil. The US sprinter won in Lausanne back in 2005 with 49.95 which, coincidentally, matches her best time of the season so far in 2015.
