The 31st edition of the Athletissima on Tuesday 11 July, a Super Grand Prix meeting on the IAAF World Athletics Tour is to benefit from a new initiative by its host TV broadcaster.

Swiss TV, which produces the programming of the meeting will for the first time in its history use its website to broadcast a sporting event. So as well as its extensive distribution of standard TV images, from 20.00hrs (18hrs GMT) on 11 July, those with access to the web around the world are just a click away from all the action, and the coverage will be accessible on the site free of charge – www.tsr.ch

Last year, Athletissima was highlighted by the 4.93m World record Pole Vault of Russia’s Yelena Isinbayeva. Also, while the Olympic champion was to improve to 5.01m by the end of the season when taking the World Championship title in Helsinki, there were two marks in other events in Lausanne last year which were to remain the best in the world for 2005 - Marian Oprea in the men’s Triple Jump (17.81) and Chandra Sturrup in the women’s 100 metres (10.84), a sprint which featured two more women under 11 seconds.
