Tegla Loroupe, winner of last week's Rotterdam Marathon, clinched her second title in seven days Sunday when she won the 10-kilometer Caledonian Run in 32 minutes and 26 seconds at Balmoral Castle.

The 25-year-old Kenyan surged to the front after two kilometres and kept control for the duration of the race, finishing 22 seconds in front of Germany's Irina Mikitenko, who crossed in 32:48. Canadian Kathy Butler took third place in 33:01.

"It was easy today,'' Loroupe said. "I wasn't expecting to run that quickly so soon after the marathon.'' Loroupe was leaving after the race for Kenya, where she will spend a couple of weeks with her family, before returning to compete at the IAAF Grand Prix in Hengelo.

In the men's race, Thomas Nyariki improved on his third place in Saturday's five-mile race by winning the 10-kilometer event in 28:25.

Nyariki finished 18 seconds in front of fellow Kenyan Julius Kimutai, who crossed in 28:43, with Portugal's Paulo Guerra finishing third in 28:51.

The highlight of the two-day road racing event, held in the grounds of the Queen's summer residence, was Paula Radcliffe's world record-breaking race on Saturday.

The 25-year-old Briton broke both the five-mile and eight-kilometre women's road-race records with a finishing time of 24:47 as she defended her Balmoral Challenge title.

She passed the eight-kilometre barrier in a record 24:38 before finishing more than one minute ahead of Kenya's Jackline Maranga and Finland's Anne-Mari Sandell.
