With five athletes qualified for the IAAF World Junior Championships in Bydgoszcz, Denmark sees its second largest representation ever – only surpassed by the team from the previous championships in Beijing 2006.
Four of the five team members have improved the national Junior record throughout the season, whereas the fifth - 400 metres runner Rasmus Olsen - is hoping also to claim the NJR (from 1985) during the competitions in Poland.
High hurdler Andreas Martinsen - who turns 18 in July - finished 4th in what was one of the highlights at last year’s IAAF World Youth Championships in Ostrava: the Boy’s 110m Hurdles.
At last weekend’s ”Bauhaus Juniorengalla” in Mannheim (GER) he underlined his talent, smashing his own NJR when coming in second in the A-heat in the excellent time of 13.83.
