Men Pole Vault Final

With sixtime World Champion and World Record holder Sergey Bubka, IAAF council member, watching from the grandstand Ukraine went one, two in the men’s pole vault final, with both of the Ukrainian athletes, Maksym Mazuryk and Vladyslav Revenko clearing a final height of 5.55 metres, a world leading junior mark for 2002.

With fewer failures in his series, Mazuryk was awarded the title, with silver going to Revenko.

Four athletes cleared 5.40 metres, but the bronze medal went to France’s Vincent Favretto, who had a clear series to 5.50, electing to attempt only three heights, 5.20, 5.30 and 5.40, prior to three unsuccessful attempts at 5.50.
