In the last event to be concluded this evening, Jonathan Moore saved face for Great Britain by winning the countrys second gold medal of the World Youth Championships just a few minutes after his high jumping compatriot Aileen Wilson had won the countrys first medal in Debrecen.
Moore won his event with a World Youth Championships record leap of 16.36 metres at his third attempt overtaking the early leader David Girard of Cuba, who opened his competition with 16.01 metres.
Moores performance was to remain the winning one, despite a desperate last leap by Girard of 16.33 metres. Cuba also won the third place on the podium, with Osniel Toscas producing a best effort of 15.67 metres.
