David Kiprotich BETT (KEN)GOLD MEDAL - 13:23.76
I’m very happy because I won this race today. I wasn’t expecting to win, but God made me. That’s why I won the race. This is my first time at the World Junior Championships.
I had no real plan, but I knew that my friend (John Kipkoech) was very strong, but God has been with me.
I decided to go out because I was leading, and I decided to run in front of him.
John KIPKOECH (KEN) SILVER - 13:26.03 (PB)
I’m feeling very good because I got a silver medal and my best time yet.
The race was not bad, but I’ve improved my best time. It feels good.
This was my last race as a junior. I’m promoting myself to senior for next year.
Aziz LAHBABI (MAR) - BRONZE - 13:28.92 (NJ)
The race was a little bit hard for me because there were runners from Ethiopia and Kenya and they are strong in these races.
I knew in the last 1500 metres, I was going to get third place and at a certain point after that, I thought I was going to get second place but I couldn’t.
When I came here, I was thinking I could medal and if not, I could improve my time.
Ross PROUDFOOT (CAN) 14th - 15:03.13
The field as you saw was really deep so it’s nice to be in a field with such world class competition. Those guys are in a whole other league.
It’s a huge experience knowing where I stand against others in the world.
