Millrose Games to feature women's pole
vault
Following on from its introduction
to the World Indoor Championships last year, women's pole vault
is set to make its debut in next month's Millrose Games on
13 February.
One of the star attractions of the Games is likely to be last
year's world indoor champion in the event, Stacy Dragila (USA),
who is currently joint holder of the indoor world record after
matching the 4.40m mark set by Emma George (AUS).
The women's pole vault has proved to be an extremely popular
spectator event and will figure for the first time in the World
Championships in Athletics in Seville in 1999. The discipline is
also expected to feature in the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
