Mr and Mrs Mikhnevich, and Kravchenko in great form in Mogilyov

Belarusian athletes were in good form in the University Games of Belarus in Mogilyov, Belarus on Sunday 21 February.

Andrey Kravchenko, Beijing Olympic Decathlon silver medallist started his season well indoors with a great Heptathlon. His results were 60m – 7.09, Long Jump – 7.57, Shot Put – 13.77, High Jump – 2.11, his 60m Hurdles was a personal best – 7.90, Pole Vault – 5.10, and 1000m – 2:43.50. Total: 6206pts

Natallia Mikhnevich, Beijing Olympic Shot Put silver medalist, went beyond 19m on four efforts. In the second series she produced 19.17m, with her best coming in the fourth round – 19.18.

In the men’s Shot competition, her husband Andrei Mikhnevich, Beijing Olympic bronze medal winner had two of his six attempts over 21m: in the second round – 21.31, and in the fourth – 21.44.

National records went to Sviatlana Kudzelich (2000m Steeplechase, 6:23.29) and in the 4x200m (Katsiaryna Paplauskaya, Hanna Tashpulatava, Katsiaryna Tomchik and Alena Kievich) - 1:39.94.

Maxim Lynsha was first in the 60m Hurdles (7.65), Aliaksandr Kazakou won the 5000m Race Walk (20:14.39), and Andrei Stsepanchuk took the 10,000m Race Walk (41:37.01). Anna Drabenya won both the women’s 3000m Race Walk (12:55.97) and 5000m Race Walk (22:23.00).
