Müller and Ritte are the best Masters Athletes of 2008

Christine Müller of Switzerland and Wolfgang Ritte of Germany have respectively been announced as the 2008 WMA Best Female and Best Male Master athletes.

World Masters Athletics (WMA), the sanctioning body for Masters (women over 35, men over 40) Track and Field competition worldwide, have honoured Müller and Ritte for their exceptional seasons in 2008.

Müller reached 50 this summer, and holds World and European records for the sprint and long hurdles, and also competes in the combined events as well sprints and the Long Jump. At the EVAA 2008 Stadia championships in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in July and August she won 3 gold medals and 1 silver medal.

Ritte is 55-years-old, he started pole vaulting when he was 5 years old with his grandfather. In 2008 he raised the outdoor World record to 4.60m and has done this distance several times this year.
