One of the premier distance runners of all time has entered one of the premier half marathons in the world. Catherine Ndereba will run the Bogota International Half Marathon on 2 August.

The Bogota International Half Marathon is an IAAF Gold Label Road Race.

Ndereba, 36, the 2007 and 2003 World Marathon champion has two Olympic silver medals to go along with a silver medal in the 2005 World Marathon. Her marathon PB is 2:18:47 (a then-World record/best in 2001) and she is a four-time winner of the Boston Marathon and a two-time winner of the Chicago Marathon.

The Kenyan has a half marathon PR of 1:07:54, and won the Bogota race in 2006.

Predictably, Ndereba has had a stellar half marathon career too, with wins at the Philadelphia Half Marathon (3), the Kyoto Half Marathon, the Sapporo Half Marathon (3) and the New York Half Marathon (2).

Ndereba’s entry this year gives added lustre to the Bogota race. The field is typically more than 40,000 strong in a combined half-marathon and 10K race. And each year an elite international field is drawn to the competition.
