New CAC executive team elected, as Sanchez and Guevara receive CAC Athlete of Year Awards

the members of the Central American and Caribbean Athletic Confederation elected a new executive team.

Victor Lopez from Puerto Rico was re-elected unopposed as President. Lopez is the Head Women´s Track Coach at Rice University in Houston, as well as President of the North American, Central American, and Caribbean Track and Field Coaches Association.

Elected First Vice President was Antonio Villanueva, President of the Mexican Federation.

Dennis Johnson of Jamaica, former 100yd world record holder was elected to the position of Second Vice President.

Elected unopposed for the position of Third Vice President was Keith Joseph, president of the St. Vincent & The Grenadines Athletics Association.

Members elected for the At Large Position were Alfred Emmanuel of St. Lucia, Alain Pierre, President of the Haiti Athletic Association, and Mrs. Judith Simmons, President of the Bermuda Track and Field Association.

During a Luncheon held alter the Congress, Ana Guevara from Mexico and Felix Sanchez of The Dominican Republic were presented with their CAC Athlete Of The Year Awards. Both Guevara, a 400m runner, and Sanchez, a 400m Hurdler, were nominated for IAF Athlete of The Year Awards, having won the Grand Prix Finals, and were undefeated in the Golden League.

The Mexican Federation was presented with an Award of CAC Federation of 2002.
