MonteIn a dynamic initiative to help the widest possible dissemination of scientific and coaching information about the sport of Athletics, the IAAF has now made the archive of articles which have been published in its world leading technical journal New Studies in Athletics (NSA) available on-line for download, free of charge.

Since its first issue in 1986, NSA has established itself as a much respected international journal and illustrates the importance the IAAF attaches to scientific and coaching information.

Most of the articles published have been original contributions and provide a valuable source of information for coaches combining scientific theory, such as biomechanics, with the practical application.

This high level of information comes with an excellent standard of production. NSA is an attractively designed publication with an impressive selection of quality coloured photographs. An essential publication in the coaching world designed with coaches in mind.

FREE archive now online

The NSA Archive is a growing resource of information. In its initial stage articles from 1986 to 1999 are accessible, with those published between 2000 and 2004 becoming available in early 2007. NOTE. There will always be a two year delay between the published edition and what is available online.

The NSA Archive is intended to provide the athletics community with a resource of specific technical information. It is a powerful database where articles can be found by a full text search engine and are accessible as PDF-files (Adobe Acrobat Reader Format) which can then be downloaded, emailed or read online.

The use of the NSA Archive is free of charge.

The history of New Studies in Athletics

In 1984 the IAAF Council appointed a scientific working group with the specific task of producing a journal emphasizing the technical aspects of athletics. In the following year during the Council Meeting in Athens (1985), it was decided to publish the magazine under the name “New Studies in Athletics”. The first issue was published in 1986.
