There was no time for partying at the end of the year for double World High Jump champion Blanka Vlasic. Aside from spending Christmas morning with her family it was business as usual for the 26-year-old Croatian star who is one of the IAAF Diamond League Ambassadors.

“It is funny how everybody calls it 'holidays'! They plan their vacations – booking a room in some ski lodge or just staying at home with their families. I try to catch that spirit every year even though I know I'll be training at Christmas.”
“I get strange looks when I tell to people that I just can't make any arrangements for a great party to celebrate the New Year. But (these looks) are not from my friends, as they have already got used to the fact that my free days are long finished and that I'm 'working' harder than ever.”
