Poland’s top shot putters will travel across the border to take on the best Czech big men at the 55th Ostrava Golden Spike meeting on 20 May, organisers of the IAAF World Challenge meeting announced on Friday (9).

The hosts at the top Czech athletics meeting of the year will be represented by two-time European indoor medallist Ladislav Prasil and Tomas Stanek, who improved this indoor season to 21.30m.

Poland will send two-time Olympic champion Tomasz Majewski, world U20 champion and world U20 record-holder Konrad Bukowiecki and indoor revelation Michal Haratyk, who improved by more than a metre this winter with a European-leading mark of 21.35m when winning on home soil in Lodz in February.

US indoor champion Kurt Roberts, who improved during the indoor season to 21.57m, will also be in the field.
