Following her European record breaking run at the Great North Run (67:07), Paula Radcliffe (Bedford & County AC) has today been added to the Norwich Union Great Britain and Northern Ireland Team for the 9th IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in Veracruz, Mexico, on Sunday 12 November.

She joins Andrea Green(Dartford Harriers), Sue Reinsford(Bedford & County AC), Marian Sutton (Westbury Harriers) and Sarah Young-Wilkinson (Salford Harriers). Of the five athletes selected, three will score in the team competition.

Paula said: "I was aware prior to the Great North Run that there was a place available in the team for the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships. However because I was suffering from a cold, I thought I would end my season there. The cold has cleared up more quickly than I expected so I have decided to travel to Mexico for the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships. I am looking forward to a good run to end my season."
