Rollison runs World Best at Pacific Schools Games

2 May 2000 - Queenslander distance runner, Melissa Rollison stole the show on day one of the Pacific Schools Games being held at the Sydney International Athletics Centre Homebush yesterday. Rollison, broke her own World Junior 2000 metres steeplechase best, with a time of 6:25.77.

Male athletes of the meet at the 1999 Ansett Australian All Schools, Tim Driesen, was surprisingly pushed in the 16-17 years discus. Driesen, from Victoria, threw 56.99 metres in the third round to defeat Queenslander Greg Holmes with a throw of 54.08m.

Current World Youth (U18) 400 metres hurdles champion, South Africa's Marnue Kritzinger easily won his 400 metres heat in 47.86 sec.

The world's fastest junior 400 metres and 400 metres hurdler Jana Pittman will be the highlight on day two when she runs the 18-19 years 400 metres final.
