Following on the footsteps of their older champions 400m Hurdles silver medallist at the Olympic Games in Seoul 1988 Amadou Dia Ba and World 400m reigning champion Amy Mbacke Thiam, Senegalese youth athletes are aiming at good performances in the one lap events – Hurdles and flat.

Among the nine athletes who have been selected to compete in the forthcoming IAAF World Youth Championships in Sherbrooke, Canada, Senegal’s best chances for winning a medal will be Séléké Samaké whose personal best at 400m Hurdles is 53.44 and Mamdou Gueye (48.99 at 400m) among the men and Ndéye Fatou Soumah and her 55.94 personal best at 400m among the women.
