Sinimol Paulose signs off Asian Indoors in style – Day Three

India’s Sinimol Paulose won the gold in women’s 1500m in a record-breaking effort on the final day of the 2nd Asian Indoor Championships at Pattaya, Thailand, on Sunday (12 Feb).
 
Sinimol (22), a bronze medalist in this event behind teammate O.P. Jaisha and Kazakhstan’s Svetlana Lukasheva in the inaugural Asian Indoor Games here last  November, with a sprint finish posted a new meet mark of 4:18.29 for the gold medal.  Jaisha (4:18.50) and Lukasheva (4:19.50) took the silver and bronze respectively. 
 
The men's race was won by Qatar's Daham Najim Bashaji also with a record time of 3:44.04. Bahrain's Saleh Bakheet (3:46.29) and India's Pritam Bind (3:47.23) took the next two spots.
 
Kazakhstan's Pavel Dubitsky won the Heptathlon (5619 points) ahead of Taiwan's Szu-Pin Hsia (5563) and Uzbekistan's Pavel Andreev (5421).
 
The former soviet republics dominated the women’s High Jump with Marina Aitova winning on 1.93m, while Tatiana Efimenko (Kyrghstan) and Svetlana Radzivil (Uzbekistan) tied at 1.91. 
 
Kazakhstan's Roman Valiyev (16.24) defended the men's Triple Jump title ahead of Syria's Mohammd Hazzory (16.20) and compatriot Eugeny Ektov (15.93).
 
The home crowd cheered as shot-putter Saryudh Pinitjet tossed his implement out to 17.49m to take the gold.  Kuwaiti Mashari Mohammai was 20cm short of that mark and so settled for silver while Sergey Rubstov of Kazakhstan got the bronze (16.89). India’s Saurabh Vij finished fourth, just 1cm short of Rubstov.
 
In the women's Shot Put China's Chunhua Qian stood tall with her mighty heave of 17.12 for gold, Thailand's Juthaporn Krasaeyan won silver with 15.34m, while Hamida Al Habsi (Oman) with a paltry 9.87 got the bronze.
 
The Thai men’s 4x400m relay quartet of Banjong La-Chua, Jukkatip Pojaroen, Tulapong Suttasao and Sopachai Phachasay ran a well judged race to romp home the honours clocking 3:15.53, a meet record. Despite having finished in the next two spots, the teams of Malaysia and Kuwait were disqualified for having changed their runners at the last moment without prior notification
 
The women’s 4x400m Relay went to Kazakhstan (3:41.39) while hosts Thailand took the silver in 3:42.28, and India the bronze with 3:53.24.
