Spotakova throws world season’s best at Czech champs

The Czech national championships (2425) were highlighted by Barbora Spotakova’s world season’s lead of 65.50m with her first attempt in the women’s Javelin Throw.

“I am totally satisfied, but my shape should peak in Gothenburg. Nothing similar like last year in Helsinki where I did not qualify should happen again. And later in the season I hope to break also the national record,“ said Spotakova who held the previous 2006 lead of 65.28m.

Jarmila Klimesova was second with 62.60m.

In the men’s Pole Vault, Adam Ptacek took the title with 5.75m and made good attempts at a national record of 5.82m.

There was also a 2.29m to 2.27m High Jump battle between Tomas Janku and Svatoslav Ton, with the former taking the win. 1.94m brought the women’s victory to Barbora Lalakova.

World Championship bronze medallist Pavla Hamackova set her season’s best of 4.50m in the women’s Pole Vault, while in the Discus Throw Vera Pospisilova-Cechlova, nursing a leg injury, produced a 61.79m win.

Nice summer weather, sometimes too hot, mainly helped the athletes, with nearly 40 persons obtaining qualification standards for Gothenburg, so it looks like the Czech Republic will have its biggest team since independence.
