Reigning World and Olympic champion Andreas Thorkildsen of Norway produced a massive 90.37m javelin throw at the Florö Track & Field Festival on Saturday (29).

Thorkildsen's effort, which came in the second round, was the seventh time the 28-year-old two-time Olympic champion has thrown beyond the 90-metre line.

Thorkildsen, who is also an IAAF Diamond League Ambassador, produced a consistent series, opening with a season's best of 87.20m before his big throw, the fourth farthest of his career. He backed those up with 86.45m and 85.94m efforts in the third and sixth rounds, each of which was farther than the runner-up, his long-time rival Tero Pitkämäki of Finland, who's best effort on the day was an 84.34m in the third round.

Mikko Kankaanpää of Finland was third with an 83.33m best, followed by Russian Sergey Makarov, who reached 81.15m.
