World indoor High jump champion Ivan Ukhov registered another victory at the 15th traditional Moscow Cup High Jump on Thursday (3).

Ukhov, the season's world leader at 2.38m, cleared 2.30m with his second attempt to take a clear, if not clean victory. Ukhov missed his first attempt at 2.24m then moved to 2.27m which he cleared easily before sealing the victory with his second go at 2.30 before calling it a night.

His coach, former Olympic champion Sergei Klugin confirmed that Ukhov has at least three more competitions on his schedule this winter: Sunday's Russian Winter meeting, the national championships, and the European indoor championships in Paris.

"The more competitions, the better," Klyugin said.

Five men, Aleksei Dmitrik, Aleksandr Shustov, Sergei Mudrov and Eduard Malchenko, all cleared 2.27m.

Women didn't compete at the Cup for the first time. The women's High Jump isn't on the programme for Sunday's Russian Winter meeting so most women jumpers preferred to continue their preparations for the national championships which begin on 16 February.
