Athletics New Zealand (ANZ) have announced that Valerie Vili will defend her Shot Put title at the 13th IAAF World Indoor Championships which take place in Doha, Qatar from 12-14 March 2010.
The 2008 Olympic and 2009 and 2007 World outdoor champion won the World Indoor title in Valencia in 2008 with a New Zealand and Oceania record of 20.19m, beating Nadzeya Ostapchuk of Belarus by 45 cm.
Vili will compete in the qualifying rounds in Doha on 13 March, with the final set down for 14 March 2010.
At this stage it is planned that Vili’s first outdoor competition this season will be at the Porritt Classic in Hamilton on Saturday 13 February 2010.
