Women 100 m Final

It was a fitting finish for the women’s 100 metre final as the USA and Jamaica shared the honours, even if the result was weighted in favour of the Americans.

The highest step of the podium went to Lauryn Williams (USA) as she outsprinted Simone Facey of Jamaica to the line, despite getting off to the slowest start in the race.

To the roars of the crowd in the  National Stadium, both girls ran personal bests with their respective finishing times of 11.33 and 11.43 seconds.

Marshevet Hooker of USA took bronze with her 11.48 performance, while Jamaica’s Kerron Stewart had to settle for fourth place with 11.53.
