Women's 200m Semi Finals - Flash Interviews

Jodie Williams (GBR)1st in HEAT 123.20

I could see she (Samuel) was running very strong in the heats and she was going to be tough so I just needed to qualify by having a competition with myself and have confidence going into the final

It would be amazing to win both the 100 metres and 200 metres to prove that last year was not a fluke. The race was close and I expect the race this year to be close too.

Allison PETER (ISV) - 1st in HEAT 2 - 23.68

The race went good. I have to work on my start, but I’m happy right now.

I didn’t get a good start. Once again, it’s cold, the weather is not good.

I have to warm up more and I have to stay warm.

Stormy KENDRICK (USA) - 1st in HEAT 3, 23.28 (PB)

My main goal was to make it to the final.  We are racing for a (good) lane so, that was a good race for me.  It was a personal best.  I was striving to make it to an inside lane.  That way you can see where your opponents are.

Heading to the final I want to work on my finish because that is what it is going to come down to.

Crystal EMMANUEL (CAN) 3rd in HEAT 3 - 23.96 (PB)

I’m feeling great, really good. I was training very hard to get a PB, and I went out there and did it.

Every lane is the same and I worked the turn very hard and maintained until the end, and I got what I wanted.

I’ll be looking for another big time and working very hard to make it straight to getting another medal for Canada.

Cassandra PASCAL (CAN) - 5th in HEAT 3 - 24.05

I’m a little bit disappointed. I was looking to run 23 seconds today, but I didn’t quite get there, but there’s lots of time, lots of room for improvement.

I thought I was coming out hard on the turn but then as soon as I got off the bend everyone was all over me so I’m really going to have to run the bend harder, run the turn harder and hopefully next time I’ll have a better result.

It was great to have them (the crowd) out here.
