Spain to send 24 athletes to Kampala

Spain has selected 24 athletes to compete at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships Kampala 2017 on 26 March.

European indoor 3000m champion Adel Mechaal leads the senior men’s team while fellow national cross-country champion Trihas Gebre leads the senior women’s team and will be aiming to improve on her 15th-place finish from 2015.

Adrian Ben and Lucia Rodriguez, Spain’s top finishers in the junior races at the 2016 European Cross Country Championships, feature on the U20 teams, while European under-23 1500m champion Marc Alcala is part of the mixed relay team.

Senior men: Fernando Carro, Jose Espana, Adel Mechaal, Sergio Sanchez, Ricardo Serrano

Senior women: Azucena Diaz, Trihas Gebre, Ana Lozano, Irene Pelayo, Teresa Urbina

U20 men: Adrian Ben, Mario Garcia, Miguel Gonzalez, Said Mechaal, Ouassim Oumaiz

U20 women: Carla Gallardo, Marta Garcia, Silvia Perez, Lucia Rodriguez, Cristina Ruiz

Mixed relay: Marc Alcala, Blanca Fernandez, Solange Pereira, Jesus Ramos
