World leading 10.88 for Campbell-Brown in Clermont

World 100m champion Veronica CampbellBrown sped to a world-leading 10.88 at a warm up meeting in Clermont, Florida on Saturday (14 June).

Running only in the heats of 100m, the Jamaican eclipsed her own previous season-pacing 10.91 performance from the Reebok Grand Prix in New York late last month. Campbell-Brown also contested the 200m, winning in 22.22w (+2.3).

Natasha Hastings, who ran 22.80w ( +3.3) in another heat, won the 400m in 51.49, defeating 2007 U.S. champion Dee-Dee Trotter, who reached the line in 51.98.

Mark Jelks won the men’s 100m in 10.04, well ahead of Bernard Williams (10.22). Jelks was  even faster in heats, clocking 10.00, assisted by a +2.9 wind. 18-year-old Jeff Demps won his heat with a windy 10.21 (+2.2).

World championships medallist Wallace Spearmon clocked 20.40 to win the 200m.

Damu Cherry posted two solid 100m Hurdles times, 12.79 in the heats and 12.77 (+2.7) in finals. After a wind-aided 13.16 (+3.8) in the heats, David Oliver clocked 13.10 in the final, the second fastest of his career, ahead of Aubrey Herring (13.31).
