Kenesisa Bekele has been the top performer in the IAAF Rankings for two months in a row. He was the best performer in the month of May with his 5000m World record set in Hengelo. Just a week later – on June 8 - Bekele assured his “Performer of the Month” title for June as well by breaking the 10,000m World record in Ostrava. he heads the IAAF World Event Ranking, which is combined for these distances.
Abeyglesse became the Top Performer of the month in June. The 21-year-old surprised many by setting 5000m World record at the Bergen Golden League meeting with 14:24.68, the equivalent of 1477 points, but the Event Ranking for 5000 metres is headed by Tirunesh Dibaba for her consistent performances over the distance including her new World Junior record, whereas Abeyglesse is currently in sixth position.
Isinbayeva, meanwhile is just trailing her compatriot and strongest adversary Feofanova (currently) in the Women Pole Vault Event Ranking, where just 4 points separate the two at the head of the table.
