World records ratified - Rudisha 800m, Berlin and Rieti

MonteCarloThe IAAF World Challenge meetings in Berlin and Rieti at the end of August were highlighted by two 800m World record performances by Kenya’s David Rudisha which improved on the 13-year-old mark of 3-time outdoor World champion Wilson Kipketer.

The African champion and the winner of the IAAF VTB/Bank Continental Cup, Rudisha, 21, also won the inaugural Samsung Diamond Race Trophy for the two-lap event this summer.

The IAAF is pleased to announce that Rudisha’s two World record performances have now completed the standard ratification process to become official:
