The announcement of the host city for the 2019 IAAF World Championships will be streamed live on the IAAF YouTube channel between 1200-1330 CET on Tuesday (18) and will be available here.
The broadcast will include the final presentations by the three Candidate Cities - Eugene, Barcelona and Doha (order of presentation) - the announcement of the host city, and a press conference/question-and-answer session.
The decision about host city for the 2019 IAAF World Championships will be made by a secret ballot vote at the end of the first session of the three-day sitting of the IAAF Council at the Fairmont Hotel in Monaco.
A candidate requires an ABSOLUTE majority (half the votes cast plus one) to win.
If this is not achieved after a first round of voting, then the candidate placed third will drop out and second round of voting will take place, whereupon a candidate only requires a simple majority to be declared the winner.
(In case there is a tie for second and third places after the first round of voting, a ‘run off vote’ will take place with the candidate getting the lowest number of votes being eliminated.)
