Maurice Greene, who shattered the world record for 100 meters earlier this month, and Ato Boldon, 200m World Champion will run in Rome's July 7 Golden Gala athletics meet, organisers said Monday.

Greene, the 100 metres World Champion, shattered the old mark for the sport's glamour event by clocking 9.79 seconds at the Olympic Stadium in Athens, Greece, June 16. He won the 200 metres at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday.

In Rome, Greene has committed to running the 100m, where he will be pitted against Canada’s Bruny Surin who is in excellent form, clocking 9.88 at his national Championships in Winnipeg last week.

The Golden Gala is the second leg in the IAAF's seven-meet Golden League series (following Oslo on 30 June), which offers a 1 million dollar jackpot to be split among the athletes who win their events at every circuit stop plus the Grand Prix Final.

In addition to Greene, organisers announced Monday, the Kansas City, Kansas, native's training partner, Ato Boldon, will participate. Boldon will run the 200, for which he is the world champion.

Others set to attend include women's 100m World Champion Marion Jones, who'll run the 200m, and world record holders Kim Batten in the women's 400 hurdles and Kenya's Bernard Barmasai in the 3000m steeplechase.
