Doha, QatarWith the dawning of the IAAF Diamond League less than 24 hours away, the answer to what precisely sets this 14 meeting series apart will be made abundantly clear when the series kicks off at the Qatar Sports Club on Friday evening.

Building on the success of the World Indoor Championships which took place here just two months ago, organisers of the annual Doha fixture have attracted formidable fields to the Qatari capital, across the board, creating a buzz the sport has never witnessed so early in the season. Indeed, the collection of talent assembled here, coupled with the Persian Gulf’s balmy conditions, make it easy to forget that that we're still in the early days of May.

In all, 10 reigning individual World and nine Olympic champions, along with four who captured the World indoor title at the Aspire Dome here in mid-March, have arrived to kick off their ambitions in the season-long Diamond chase which will culminate in August in Zurich and Brussels.
