FacebookTwitterEmail

Prague, Czech Republic – Philemon Limo of Kenya will be the man to beat at Saturday’s Metro 10Km – an IAAF Silver Label Road Race – part of the Mattoni Prague Grand Prix.

Limo leads an elite men’s field which also includes Marofit Mourad from Morocco and Dmitryj Safronov from Russia.  The organisers are especially pleased about the participation of Limo, as he has already made headlines in Prague when he set a new race record of 59:30 for the Hervis Prague Half Marathon earlier this year. Limo’s time was the third fastest performance of the year for the Half Marathon in the third fastest event.

Among Limo’s biggest competitors will be last year’s winner, Mourad, but the African runners will have some competition. Running alongside them will be Jake Robertson from New Zealand, a recent finalist in the 5000m at the IAAF World Championships in Daegu and Safronov, who finished third in last year’s European Championships in Barcelona in the Marathon.

Among the women's line up for the adidas Women´s Race 5Km, we will see Tadelech Bekele from Ethiopia, and one of the best Polish runners, Karolina Jarzynska, both of whom have competed in the Czech Republic at previous events, plus they will be joined by the very experienced Yelena Zadorozhnaya from Russia, who can be expected to do very well.

Talking about the upcoming races, Jana Moberly, the Elite Athletes Coordinator, said: “We are really pleased to have put together a very quality field of elite athletes, which we hope will make the race exciting for both spectators as well as the followers of the professional long distance running!”

Representing the Czech Republic will be Jan Kreisinger, the fastest Czech runner of last year’s race, and Milan Kocourek, the Czech champion in both the 3,000m Steeplechase and 5000m. The favourites in the women´s category will be Petra Kaminkova, the best Czech female long distance runner, and Marcela Lustigova, the national record holder in the 3000m Steeplechase.

In all, 5400 participants will take part in the two races.
