Aiming for a short-sprint double, Jamaican rocket Kevona Davis will line up as the favourite in the 100m dash.
The 15-year-old clocked a Jamaican U18 record of 11.24 to win the Jamaican U18 title last month, taking her to 10th on the world U18 all-time list.
Her strongest challenge could be launched by Devine Parker of The Bahamas, who boasts an unofficial best time of 11.51 which was clocked with no wind reading. Her 11.68 clocking into a -1.2m/s headwind at the Carifta Games suggests she is certainly capable of running in the 11.5s.
Other contenders for the title include double South American U20 champion Lorraine Martins of Brazil, who holds a career best of 11.56, and Mizgin Ay of Turkey who enters the event with an 11.58 performance to her credit.
