It looks like being all USA in this event with Kendell Williams holding the two fastest times in 2014, both under 13 seconds. She set an Area junior record of 12.87 set at Hayward Field last month when winning the national junior title, the second fastest time ever by a junior.

Her teammate, world youth silver medallist Dior Hall, owns the next three best times and has 13.00 to her credit, suggesting the US could take gold and silver for the first time in championships history.

If anyone is to challenge the US sprint hurdlers, it will be Great Britain's Yasmin Miller or Barbados' Akela Jones, who stand far back at 13.34 and 13.35 respectively, but the real race in the short hurdles is often with the barriers and little should be taken for granted.
