USA’s Valerie Allman dominates the 2014 junior list with six of the top 10 marks, the best being 57.45m. She will be bidding to become the first ever US winner of this title.
Germany’s Claudine Vita and China’s Yan Liang, the silver medallists at the 2013 and 2011 World Youth Championships respectively, have both thrown beyond 56 metres this year.
Spain’s June Kintana and Brazil’s Izabela da Silva could also spring a surprise.
